About me
Bio

I grew up in Belo Horizonte, and at 19 I earned a place in medicine at my hometown university, the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), one of Brazil's top-ranked universities and home to one of its leading medical schools. Federal universities in Brazil are fully publicly funded: there is no tuition, and the only way in is a highly competitive national entrance exam, so studying medicine at home meant scoring among the highest in the country.
Early in medical school I became interested in wound healing, and that interest led me to surgery and, from there, to plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Research came along the way. I realized that a carefully designed study can change how patients are treated well beyond the ones I will ever see, and that is what keeps me doing it: asking clinical questions rigorously enough that the answers improve patient care.
Outside medicine, I play soccer, play Counter-Strike and spend time with my three dogs.
I graduate in mid-2027. I am currently in Washington, DC, for two months of surgical clerkships at George Washington University.
Languages: Portuguese (native), English (fluent), Spanish (intermediate).
Member, American Society of Plastic Surgeons (2026).
